Flash PARCS: Coin Machine

Modified on Tue, 28 Jan at 11:09 AM

Flash PARCS supports coin payments, enhancing the convenience for customers and fulfilling an international requirement specifically for Canadian opportunities. This functionality requires installing and integrating a CPI Gryphon™ Coin Change machine with the Flash PARCS Kiosk in tandem with the Cash Machine BNR.

Note: The Coin Machine is compatible with both Canadian and US currency.

Benefits

  • Flexible Payment Options: Customers can pay for parking using coins, and operators are no longer restricted to using only fees calculated to a whole dollar amount.

  • Exact Change: When customers overpay the amount due with cash, they will receive exact change back using coins when needed.

How it Works

Cash and Coin Payment Example

Coin Management

The Coin Machine and the Cash Machine are managed separately. A Coin Management button is available from the Admin menu when the Coin Machine is connected to the kiosk.

  • Print Receipt: Prints a receipt that shows how many coins are in the recycler, the coin box and a grand total. The receipt is broken down by denomination.
  • Load Coin for change: Allows the user to start loading coins to be used for change. These coins are sent directly to the tubes.
  • Remove Coin Box: This function is used when the coin box is removed from the machine to empty the coins and retrieve the money or to replace the full coin box with an empty one.
  • Reset Coin Box: This function is only to be used if the coin box was removed without initiating the correct process of using the “Remove Coin Box” button.  Since the coin box can be removed by operators who have the keys to open the coin machine, this option will reset the coin box counters to 0, indicating that all coins have been removed from the coin box.  This function will also print a receipt.

It is recommended to initiate the coin box removal process by entering this menu before physically opening the cash machine, and coins are always removed from the coin box as the system will always assume the coins have been removed and will reset all counters and totals to ZERO.

The MMI Interface updates its interface as needed in each section. Always use the on-screen guidance, but when in doubt, this chart below lists general sub-menu navigation tips.

1 - A-F Keys -  Coin Dispense and menu navigation

2 - Display - Menu and Error Messages

3 - ≡ Key - Access service and set-up menus

4 - Statis LEDs - Red, Orange and Green

Servicing and Troubleshooting

Load Coins

Each tube by default tube requires at least 3 coins to remain in the tube at all times. The three coins will not be included in reporting information.

Gryphon will automatically route coins beyond the levels below to the coin box. When filling the Gryphon manually, take care to not to fill beyond the manual limit.

  • $2 tube - 62 coins (Canada ONLY)

  • $1 tube - 62 coins

  • .25 tube- 74 coins

  • .10 tube- 98 coins

  • .05 tube- 68 coins

Calibrate Tubes

If having an issue with the coin count it’s recommended to to calibrate the tubes. The cassette must be empty and installed to preform this function. Once calibration is complete, re-insert coins.
