Flash Pass
The Flash Pass is a prepaid Parking Pass that can be purchased and printed from a Pay on Foot, serving as the customer's entry and exit ticket.
Flash Pass Setup
The Flash Pass feature can only be configured by Flash Support teams. Please contact support@flashparking.com to enable. Below are the types of Passes and available components. Please read through to help our support teams configure the best option for your operation.
Flash Pass Types
Value-based Pass
The customer purchases a predefined dollar amount to create a balance, and the Transient parking fee will be deducted from the Flash Pass balance on exit.
- Each Flash Pass will be linked to a Purchase Price, this is the amount the customer is initially charged to print the pass. The POF kiosk can be configured to offer one or multiple Flash Pass purchased options.
- An optional feature is to add a Bonus Load to a Flash Pass price option, for example, there are 3 pass value options but one with a bonus load to encourage the customer to purchase the higher value.
- Pass 1 = $25
- Pass 2 = $50
- Pass 3 = $75 w/ bonus load of $10
- The Flash Pass will be linked to a Rate, this is the calculated rate that will be deducted from the Flash Pass when scanned at the exit. The linked rate can be the standard Transient rate or a special rate separate from the Standard rate can be applied.
- A Price Cap is an optional setting for a value-based Flash Pass. If a price cap is configured, the customer will have in/out privileges free of charge once the Cap Amount is reached for the day. Once the cap is reached the customer will not be charged again until the end of the predefined period type. We have three options for when the price cap will expire.
Period Type Options
- Midnight to Midnight - Upon scan the system evaluates Flash Pass usage from the most recent midnight to determine if Price Cap is reached.
- Operating Window - Upon scan, the system evaluates Flash Pass usage from the location's set operating window hour to determine if the Price Cap is reached. Typically an Operating Window is set to midnight or 2 AM.
- 24 hours - Upon scan the system evaluates the past 24 hours to determine if Price Cap is reached.
- Restrictions can be applied to the Flash Pass preventing the use of the Flash Pass in certain parking areas or garages. The pass can also be configured with time-based restrictions, only allowing the pass to be used on certain days and times. This is accomplished by linking a Profile to the Flash Pass setup.
- A custom message can be entered to print on the bottom section of the Flash Pass.
Time-based Pass
The time-based Flash Pass allows a customer to purchase a pass that will be valid for a fixed period of time (for example 2 days, or 2 weeks) The customer is allowed in/out privileges until the pass expiration time.
- The Flash Pass will be linked to a Purchase Price, this is the amount the customer is initially charged to print the pass. One or multiple options can be displayed on the POF screen at once.
- A Duration is set creating a fixed period of time the time-based pass can be used. The duration begins once the Flash Pass is first used and we offer two duration options.
- Days
- Weeks
- Restrictions can be applied to the Flash Pass preventing the use of the Flash Pass in certain parking areas or garages. The pass can also be configured with time-based restrictions, only allowing the pass to be used on certain days and times. This is accomplished by linking a Profile to the Flash Pass setup.
- A custom message can be entered to print on the bottom section of the Flash Pass.
A single POF can only offer a value based or a time based Flash Pass. The two types can't be offered at the same kiosk.
How It Works
If the customer has already entered the parking facility and pulled a transient ticket, the Flash Pass will be used as a chaser ticket to fulfill the payment.
1. Scan the transient ticket issued from entry at the exit kiosk.
2. Once payment due is displayed, scan the Flash Pass.
- The payment amount will be deducted from the Flash Pass balance for the value-based pass.
- The duration period will be activated for the time-based pass.
3. For any subsequent entries and exits, the Flash Pass will be scanned at the kiosk for parking access.
