Flash PARCS: Create Validation Prices Using Discount Types

Modified on Fri, 17 May at 4:10 PM

Calculated Validation prices can be created by selecting one of the Discount Type options and setting a Full Price. The selected discount type will be deducted from the rate associated with the Full Price selection.

Typically validation prices are linked to Validation Accounts and applied to tickets via a validation option. See Processing Validations to learn more.

To learn how to set up a Full Validation price see the Create Full Validation Price article.

These same steps can be used to to create a Validation price for a Flash Valet ticket type.

Create a Discounted Validation Rate

    1. Go to https://portal.flashvalet.com and log in to the Admin Portal.

    2. Select the Locations tab on the left menu and choose the Location.

    3. Select the Ticket Types tab on the top menu and choose the Transient ticket type.

    4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Add New under Add Ticket Type Price.

    5. Enter a Price Name and the fee amount.

    6. Click Save.

  • Once Saved the rate amount is greyed out and can't be edited.

Full Prices

Full Price: The Full Price drop-down menu will list all previously created prices for the location.

Discount Types

Time: The time discount type should only be linked to a Full Price set with hourly logic. Enter the number of hours to discount in the Amount field. Use a decimal to calculate minutes. For example, 30 minutes off would be .5.

Dollar: The Dollar discount type will deduct a dollar amount from the Full Price rate. Enter the dollar amount in the Amount field.

Percentage: The Percentage Discount Type will deduct the entered percentage amount from the Full Price rate.

Contact Flash Support for rate logic outside of the Time, Dollar, Percentage options here. If needing more complicated hourly logic our Support team will be able to assist.

Selected Setting

The Selected flag marks the rate as the default or active rate for the Ticket Type. The currently Selected Price will be the rate that is applied to the Transient tickets upon issuance. Typically Validation or discounted rates will not be the Selected (Default rate).

Valid From / Valid To Setting

It is not recommended to use the Valid From / Valid To fields with Validation prices. These fields are used to schedule a default rate for the location, so unless you are issuing a discount rate to all Transient parkers this should not be enabled.

Hidden Setting

Selecting the Hidden setting will remove the rate from the Flash Valet price wheel so Flash Valet users can't manually select it. This is a recommended setting for all Validation prices unless manual price selection is needed for a Cashier Setup.

NOTE: The Valid From/To field fields are not to be used for Validations as this will override the default rate and issue the validation to all transient tickets pulled during the time.
To set an expiration date on a validation, see Expiry Days settings
here.

Viewing Price Logic

    3. Select the Prices tab on the top menu and select a price.

    4. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Hourly logic price components will be displayed.

Assign Validation Price to a Validation Account

If the Validation price will be applied via the Validation portal, app, or kiosk it must be assigned to a Validation Account.

  2. Select the Validation Accounts tab from the left menu > choose a Validation Account.
