Template Pricing
Template pricing automates the process of setting event prices for events integrated into the ParkWhiz system via automated services such as Ticketmaster and StubHub. This functionality ensures that event-specific rates are immediately displayed upon an event's entry into the ParkWhiz system, thereby overriding the typically lower transient rates.
Key Considerations
- Template Pricing is available for both Reservations and on-demand services. The authority to create and modify templates is exclusively assigned to Admins of the Seller account.
- Pricings are typically generated nightly, meaning new events added on a given day should have their pricing available the following day.
- Manually creating event pricings will not bring over the default settings defined in the template; you will need to re-enter all settings and ensure they are correct before saving.
If an event already exists within the ParkWhiz system before the creation of template pricing, the template pricing will not automatically apply to those existing events. Therefore, when implementing template pricing at a location, it is imperative to manually price all applicable existing events in addition to creating the template.
How to create a Template Pricing group
This process enables the automatic pricing of new events according to the defined Template Settings.
A video tutorial can be seen here.
- Navigate to the specific ParkWhiz location. > Access the "Pricings" section.
- Select "Template."
- Click "add new template pricing config".
- Complete the "Template Settings" and Rules for the specific template group.
- Template Settings:
- Name: Assign a descriptive name (e.g., "Cubs nighttime rate").
- Applicable venues: Specify the venue(s) for which this template will be active.
- Earliest start time: Define the earliest time an event can commence to be associated with this template.
- Enabled checkbox: Unchecking this option will deactivate the template, preventing it from creating any further pricings.
- Distinction: Disabling via the "Enabled" checkbox completely halts pricing creation, whereas ticking "Pause pricing" (discussed later) results in pricings being created in a paused status.
- Auto-Price Rules:
- Include events that contain these words: If an event name includes at least one of the specified phrases, it will be auto-priced. Leaving this field blank will apply pricing to all events.
- Recommendation: For sports, the home team's name is an effective keyword (e.g., "Chicago Cubs"). For concerts, "tour" may be a suitable keyword for inclusion or exclusion.
- Include events that contain these words: If an event name includes at least one of the specified phrases, it will be auto-priced. Leaving this field blank will apply pricing to all events.
- Template Settings:
The auto pricer will create pricings when an event is created at a venue, regardless of how the event was created. The event may have been created by a feed from Ticketmaster or StubHub, or manually created by out team.
- Exclude events that contain these words: If an event name contains any of these phrases, it will not be auto-priced. Exclusions take precedence over inclusions.
- Example: If "Yankees" is included and "Playoffs" is excluded, an event named "New York Yankees Playoffs" will not be included.

- Click "save changes”.
How to Create a Template for Event Pricing
This section details the creation of specific event pricings that will be automatically applied by the template pricing groups.
- Navigate to the specific ParkWhiz location. > Access the "Pricings" section.
- Select "Template."
- Click on the specific template pricing group.
- Click “Add new reservation”.
- Complete the "New Template Pricing" details.
- Hours & Pricing:
- Pricing code: This is an optional field. If populated, bookings made from this pricing will display the pricing code under the "Bookings" tab and on the pass.
- Quantity: Represents the inventory or maximum number of spaces available for sale for this event pricing. (Not applicable for On Demand).
- Price: This is the ParkWhiz Seller Console price (also known as Base price). The price field accepts only numeric digits with up to two decimal points.
- Arrival: Specifies the maximum number of hours customers can park before the event starts. Only accepts values greater than or equal to 1.
- Departure: Specifies the maximum number of hours customers can park after the event ends. Only accepts values greater than or equal to 1.
- Required Add-ons: Check this box if the template should automatically enable add-ons on the event pricings. Leave blank or unchecked if add-ons are not required.
- Amenities: Configure based on the known properties of the facility.
- "Smartphone Mobile Parking Passes" is a critical setting that impacts availability on ParkWhiz applications.
- Instructions (Overrides location-level settings):
- Override location disclaimers: This will utilize the pricing-level location disclaimers instead of the location-level parking disclaimers.
- Override location validation method: This will utilize the pricing-level location validation method/pass instructions instead of the location-level Reservation Validation Story.
- Sales Options:
- This pricing is only for event packages: Enable this option when configuring event pricing exclusively for event packages.
- Require vehicle license plate: Check/enable this option when the location mandates vehicle license plate numbers.
- The "Require vehicle license plate before user can purchase" checkbox is not available to Sellers; Digital Solutions Support can configure this as needed
- Restrict when customers can book this pricing: This restricts customers from booking the pricing a specified number of hours before the booking start time. (Not applicable for On Demand).
- Example: If the booking restriction time is set to 0.5 hours and the parking/booking start time is 10:00 AM, customers must book on or before 9:30 AM to secure this pricing.
- Restrict when customers can cancel this pricing: This restricts customers from self-canceling their booking a specified number of hours before the booking start time. (Not applicable for On Demand. This option is not available to Sellers; Digital Solutions Support can configure this as needed).
- Example: If the cancellation restriction time is set to 0.5 hours and the parking/booking start time is 10:00 AM, customers can only self-cancel on or before 9:30 AM.
- Limit number of spots customers can buy at this price: This limits the number of spaces a customer can book for this event pricing. (Not applicable for On Demand).
- This pricing is private and only available to a group of users by their email address: This makes the event pricing private to users whose email addresses are added to this field.
- This pricing is private and only available to users who have access to one of its pricing access codes: This makes the event pricing private to users who possess the designated access code. (Not applicable for On Demand).
- Pause pricing: This sets the status of the event pricing that the template will auto-price to "paused."
- Clarification: As noted previously, disabling via the "Enabled" checkbox completely stops pricing creation, while "Pause pricing" results in pricings being created in a paused status.
- Hours & Pricing:
- Click "save changes."
- Upon saving, the templates will be listed under the template pricing group.
Managing Multiple Templates
A location can accommodate multiple Template Pricing groups and Reservation Templates.
- Multiple Template Pricing Groups:
- When multiple template pricing groups are added to locations, the system prioritizes them from the top down. Therefore, the most restrictive templates should be positioned at the top, while more general templates should be placed towards the bottom.
- Template pricing groups can be rearranged at any time by clicking the "re-order template configs" yellow button.
- Example: If a location intends to price Cubs night games at $75 and $85, and all other games at that venue at $50, the Cowboys night games template should be placed at the top.
- Multiple Reservation Templates under one Template Pricing Group:
- Multiple Reservation Templates added to a single template pricing group will be automatically priced simultaneously.
- Example: Both $75 and $80 event rates would be automatically added by the Cubs night games template pricing group.
If you need to go back and edit event pricings after they've been created, please keep in mind you can only edit in batches of 20 at a time per location. Was this article helpful?
