Parkonect: Convert Stay (Transient to Monthly)

CONVERT STAY


Convert Stay is a Parkonect feature that allows support agents to convert a Transient parking session into a Monthly stay when a Monthly parker was not properly recognized at entry. This tool is especially useful in handling unnecessary payment prompts at the exit kiosk for Monthly parkers at Parkonect Flex locations. Whether due to a missing license plate in the system, use of the wrong entry method, or LPR misreads, Convert Stay ensures that Monthly parkers are properly processed and accounted for. In just a few steps within the Garage Log, agents can resolve the issue in real time, while also updating account information (such as license plates) to help prevent repeat occurrences.


Why use Convert Stay?


Scenario 1 

If the location is configured for Express Pay and Flex Hybrid Mode is enabled, the entry gates auto-vend for each successful license plate captured by the LPR system. If a monthly parker does not have a license plate on file, they will be treated as a Transient parker and prompted for payment at the exit kiosk. If they attempt to scan their monthly credential at the kiosk, it will return a passback error since they were not captured on entry as a monthly. 

The parker will tap the Help button and the agent or operator using the Parkonect Garage Log will be able to convert the Transient session into a Monthly entry and exit. In addition, the Garage Log allows for the agent to add the monthly parker’s captured license plate to their account, preventing the scenario from recurring. 


Scenario 2

Unrelated to Express Pay or Flex, if a Monthly parker did not use their monthly credential on entry and pulled a transient instead, but does have their credential on Exit and attempted to use the credential, they will be denied due to passback. If they tap Help the support agent can convert the transient ticket to a monthly entry to keep accurate monthly activity records. 


How to Use Convert Stay 

  • Log in to the Parkonect Admin portal.
  • Select Garage > Garage Log tab
  • Locate the Transient ticket using the Filter By tool
    • At Flex-Hybrid mode locations, the driver will provide their License Plate. (The Amount due screen displays the License Plate for easy reference.)
    • In any other scenario, the driver may enter the parking facility using the following methods:
      • Barcode - Printed ticket number
      • Phone Number - 10 key (mobile number entry)
      • Last Name/CC - Credit in/out

 





4. Once the Transient entry is located, click the plus sign to toggle options > Select the Convert Stay button.









5. Search for the monthly parker by the provided information > Click Search

  • Name
  • Credential 
  • License Plate
  • Phone Number

6. Click on the Monthly Parker row from the filtered list

7. Select the driver’s Lane from the Send To Lane dropdown. 

8. Click the Convert button > Confirm 






9. After converting the Transient session to a Monthly stay, be sure to add the parker’s license plate to their Monthly account. This step is crucial to ensure they are properly recognized by the LPR system on future visits and to prevent repeat issues.








The Add License Plate to Cardholder setting must be enabled for this option.





Setting Configuration

The Convert Stay option is a default function of the Garage Log, but the Add License Plate option requires the Convert Stay Add License Plate flag to be checked. 


Select Garage > Garage Settings > Other > Check Convert Stay Add License Plate
