ParkWhiz Customers can transfer an unused parking pass to someone else using either the ParkWhiz website or mobile app. This is especially helpful if plans change and someone else needs to use the reservation.
Pass transfers work the same on both platforms, and recipients receive an email with the pass and directions. The original sender can also revoke a transfer if needed.
How to Transfer a Pass
From the Web (Transfer Portal)
Customer logs into their account on parkwhiz.com.
- Go to My Parking and select the Upcoming tab.
- Click Transfer Pass for the desired pass.
- Enter the recipient’s email and click Transfer.
- A transfer status will display—Pending or Accepted—with the option to Revoke Transfer if necessary.
Note: Only upcoming passes are eligible for transfer. Past and cancelled passes are shown for record-keeping.
From the ParkWhiz Mobile App
- After purchase, tap Transfer Pass directly on the confirmation screen
—OR—
Go to My Parking > Tap Menu > Select Transfer Pass - Enter the recipient’s email and tap Transfer Pass.
- The recipient receives the pass via email.
Transfer Experience Overview
- Recipient receives the pass by email and can view it immediately.
- Both the original buyer and the current pass holder can see the pass in their account.
- If the pass is transferred multiple times, users in the middle of the chain will no longer have access.
- A pass can be revoked by the last person who transferred it, as long as the parking session hasn't been started by the recipient.
Notes
- The "Edit License Plate" option is only available for locations that require license plate entry, and only for the final pass holder or the original buyer (if not transferred).
- When a pass is transferred, any saved license plate is cleared to prevent misuse.
- Transfer visibility:
- Original buyer sees generic “shared with a third party” messaging if the pass has changed hands multiple times.
- Most recent sender sees the email address of the recipient and whether the transfer is pending or accepted.
- Middle transferrers can see that a pass was shared but cannot view the pass itself.
- Original buyer sees generic “shared with a third party” messaging if the pass has changed hands multiple times.
If a customer reaches out with questions about pass transfers, support teams and operators should confirm the transfer status and remind the user:
- The pass must be transferred before the session starts
It can still be revoked even if the session has started, unless it has already been scanned in.
