PrePay at Entry and Express Pay

Some parking locations may temporarily operate in PrePay at Entry mode. When this happens, Express Pay is temporarily bypassed, and all drivers, including Express Pay users, must pay at the entry kiosk before entering.

What This Means for Express Pay Users

If you normally use Express Pay with your license plate:

  • Your automatic entry will not activate while PrePay mode is enabled.
  • Payment is completed at the entry kiosk before the gate opens.

Once the location returns to a standard post-pay operation, Express Pay will work normally again.

How PrePay at Entry Works

  1. Location switches to PrePay mode  - the parking facility enables a prepaid entry rate.
  2. Arrive at the entry kiosk - all drivers, including Express Pay users, stop at the kiosk.
  3. Select parking duration (if applicable) - choose how long you plan to park.
  4. Pay at the entry kiosk - complete payment using the kiosk payment options.
  5. The gate opens after payment, and a receipt is printed, allowing you to enter the facility.

FAQs

Q: Why am I being asked to pay at entry if I’m enrolled in Express Pay?
A:
The parking location is currently operating in PrePay mode. During this time, all drivers, including Express Pay users, must pay at the entry kiosk before the gate opens. Payment must be completed directly at the kiosk, as the system cannot charge the payment method saved with Express Pay while PrePay mode is active.

Q: If PrePay mode is turned on while I’m already parked, can I still use Express Pay when I leave?

A: Yes. If you entered the facility before PrePay mode was activated, you can still exit using Express Pay or pay normally at exit.

PrePay mode only affects drivers who enter after the location switches to PrePay, meaning those drivers must pay at entry instead of using Express Pay.

Q: Will Express Pay automatically turn back on later?
A: Yes. If the location returns to standard post-pay operation, Express Pay will work normally again without any action required.

Q: Will I need to stop at the exit if I prepaid at the entry?
A: Usually no. If you prepaid at entry, the LPR system recognizes that your parking has already been paid and the exit gate should open automatically.

If you stay longer than the prepaid duration, you’ll be prompted to pay any additional time at the exit before leaving.
