Express Pay Driver Experience

First Time Express Pay User

A driver’s first Express Pay session always begins with a manual start. After entering the facility, the driver must claim their session by either:

  • Scanning a QR code or tapping the entry link sent by SMS.
  • New ParkWhiz users will be asked to enter an email address and add a payment method before starting their first session.
  • Existing ParkWhiz users are recognized by their mobile number. Saved payment methods automatically populate for their Express Pay session.

During setup, drivers can choose to enable autopay.

  • If enabled, future visits start and end automatically—no manual action required.
  • If not enabled, Express Pay defaults to a one-time payment.

  • Ticket QR code
  • Session start date and time
  • Ticket number
  • Linked license plate

  • The driver's provided credit card will be charged based on the parking duration.

  • The driver receives an SMS message with payment and duration information.

Autopay Enrolled Users at Exit

If the driver is enrolled in the autopay option, they will receive a follow-up enrollment message with the option to unenroll if needed.

Autopay Sessions

Once a driver enables autopay during their initial manual start session, their license plate becomes their credential at all Express Pay-enabled locations. As a registered autopay driver, gates open automatically on entry and exit using license plate recognition.

  • Upon entry: The driver receives a welcome SMS confirming the session start. The message includes a link to their digital ticket, which displays a QR code. The QR code can be used at peripheral equipment (such as door readers or self-validator kiosks) and also serves as an alternative exit method if needed.
  • Upon exit: The driver receives an SMS confirming the amount paid and the last four digits of the credit card on file.

  • The License Plate is captured, and the system verifies that the plate is enrolled in autopay.

  • A PARCS ticket is automatically created and linked to the driver’s license plate starting a claimed Express Pay session.

  • The gate automatically opens, and the ticket/stay serves as the source of record for reporting and revenue

  • Driver receives an SMS confirming the start of the parking session, along with a link to a digital ticket.
  • Driver can tap the link provided in the SMS to view the digital ticket.

  • The QR code can be scanned at self-validation kiosks, door readers, or the exit kiosk if there are any license plate recognition issues.

  • Option to edit credit card is available.

  • Option to apply a Discount by scanning a validation barcode or manually entering a code is available

  • LPR captures the vehicle’s license plate and matches it to the active PARCS ticket.

  • The gate autovends for the claimed Express Pay session.

  • Driver's credit card is automatically charged for the parking duration.

  • Driver receives an SMS with payment details and the total parking duration.

  • An email receipt is also sent to the ParkWhiz account email address.

Express Pay Receipts

Receipts are available for all Express Pay transactions. In addition to the SMS payment confirmation, receipts are provided via email to the ParkWhiz-associated email address. The payments are also viewable in the ParkWhiz account under My Parking.

Fees

The additional transaction fees are itemized on the provided receipts that are sent via email or are viewable in the ParkWhiz mobile app.
